2nd ANNIVERSARY: London Plein Air Group
We are so thrilled that ‘London Plein Air Group’ has successfully completed 2 years of running and so to celebrate the occasion we met at St. James Park, the same place where we first met in September 2021 to paint and have some home made cakes by Carol and Charlie Davies.
It all began when Carol and myself met at one of the ROI paintout event and casually mentioned to each other, wouldn’t it be great if we all did meet and paint like this more often and so in just few days we announced about the founding of the group and to our surprise 30 artists turned up to paint here at St. James park.
Since then we have consistently painted in so many different locations in London and are close to 200 members. At any given point we have about 50-70 artists come and paint rain or shine, hot or cold- whatever the weather.
We have had two incredible outside London stay-cation Paintout holidays one to Lake District and this year we went to Isle of Wight for a week where we painted with Isle of Wight Art Club of which Carol herself is the chair. Both the years we had incredible weather.
This year we were also invited by Chelsea Art Society to host a Plein air competition during their annual show which was well received by the winners and all the participants.
The amount of love and fondness this group has received in the past two years is unmeasurable and simply amazing.
The group is free to join and welcomes everyone who just want to come and paint with like minded artists and enjoy the joy of painting Plein air.
Carol and myself are overwhelmed with this love and Thank everyone who has helped to keep the group going. So here’s to many more paintouts in the future
