About the painting:

‘Millenial Angel’ was first displayed at Tushar’s Solo Exhibition titled ‘ Chiaroscuro’ , in June 2018 at Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Mayfair, London.

Traditionally Angels were regarded as spiritual beings made out of light and without a gender. For centuries, they have appeared widely in Christian and Islamic art. However they have also been mentioned in other religions. In Hinduism and Buddhism, they are called ‘Gandharva’-the heavenly creatures with wings, while the guardian angels in Zoroastrianism are called ‘Fravashi’ and in Judaism they are referred to as messengers of the Lord. The research says that most of the millennials tend to be irreligious. Through his painting the artist has attempted to highlight the plight of the Generation Y, in the religious and irreligious world that coexists today. The sitter in the painting is one of the artist’s friends, who was very keen to be painted in a figurative.
